Theatre of Magic Pinball Machine

This pinball machine is full of Magic.  It has all has 8 magic tricks to complete.  It has a magic truck that spins around, and even has a magnet that picks up the ball.  Also it has another magnet above one of the ramps that actually picks up the ball.

This game was designed by John Popadiuk, the creator many other great games like Tales of the Arabian Nights and Circus Voltaire.  It has several multiball modes and several magnets.  It is considered to be one of the best pinball machines ever made.

Toys:

Magic trunk on playfield, levitates ball (with magnet) and makes it “disappear” to start multi-ball. The “Spirit Ring”, a round magnet which grabs the ball from the left ramp and releases it to the ramp across the playfield. Upper rollovers are hidden from player’s view by the ramps, but can be seen with a mirror on the back panel.

Notes:

Reportedly:
Holding the left flipper when pressing the START button initiates a game of Digital Pinball.
Holding down the right flipper button when pressing START reveals on the display some useful codes for the Mortal Kombat 3 video game.

In John Popadiuks’ article in the July 2000 issue of GameRoom Magazine, he stated that all of the prototype games have an Up-post between the flippers (labeled “Magic Post”). Also, he stated this game originally was going to be ‘The Magic of David Copperfield’ and the playfield design for this theme commenced while pursuing the license.

Per information from Dave Zabriskie, the male voice was performed by Mike Wadswoth, a good friend of his and an opera singer. The female voice was performed by Cathy Schenkelberg, an accomplished film/stage actor and comedian.
